Our tour will begin with our visit to the holy monastery of Arkadi. Arkadi was founded around the 11th century AD by a monk named Arkadios. Inside the monastery we will see a museum with pieces of art that have to do with the Monastery itself.
We will continue with the ancient city of Eleuftherna that was founded by the Dorians around the 9th century BC. And was inhabited until the early Byzantine years. Also we will have the previllege to visit the museum of ancient Eleutherna , which is located in the archeological park of Eleuftherna at Rethimno and houses artifacts found in the nearby archeological site of Eleutherna and the necropolis of orthi Petra.
We continue our route to the traditional village of Margarites, the village of the pottery. We will walk in alleys with large clay pots – the famous daisy pitchers – outside each house, ceramic ally hung on the walls, adorned jars with the flowers of the gardens. And it located in a corner of Crete that is a magnet for two factors, the wonderful landscape and the creations of its people. In addition we will visit a potter of the village to saw ushow the handmade pottery is made and we will eat in a traditional tavern of the village.
